How to Get Started
Below are six steps that help you to use the MobLab Day Pass
- Creating a Day Pass Class
- Selecting a MobLab Game
- Game Configurations
- Running a Game
- Debriefing
- Pricing
1. Creating a Day Pass Class
Log in to your MobLab instructor account and create a new class. Give it a descriptive name and select the "MobLab Day Pass" pricing plan.
2. Selecting a MobLab Game
Pick a game of your choice from the library and add it to your class. You may use the Demo button to preview the game or read the instructor Guide before adding the game. Currently, only a subset of our library is available for the Day Pass license. Please contact us if you cannot find your preferred game.
3. Game Configurations
All games come with pre-configured settings and are ready to be played. However, it is also our goal to give you as much liberty to customize these settings and parameters according to your specific teaching objectives. You can also import pre-built template or save your own templates.
Please view this article to learn more about MobLab's configuration options.
4. Running a Game
When you're ready to to run the game, click Open Activity. This displays the link and the QR-Code which students need to join. Students will be prompted to enter a nickname upon joing the game.
In the top left you can see how many students have joined and are ready to play.
Three helpful tips:
- Students can join with almost any internet-connected device.
- You do not necessarily need to wait for all students before beginning the game. They can still join late with the same link after the game has started.
- Most technical issues can be resolved by having the student refresh their browser (re-loading the link).
When you are ready, click Begin!
Students who have already joined will automatically be grouped together and able to play. Any students who join after you press the Begin button will be placed into an open group or start a new group.
Once the game has started, your screen will switch to the Monitor panel where you can see the status of each group (Status) who is in which group (Details) and you can add robotic players to complete any open group (Add Robots).
5. Activity Debrief
Once a game has finished, you can review the game results.
Clicking Results will open a new window displaying game-specific graphs and breakdown tables. Review the game results with your students to show them trends from the class and how their behavior compares to theoretical predictions. And if it's part of your plan, launch the Scoreboard to show off the high-scoring students to encourage some competition!
Once a game has been played, you may copy or replay the game.
Happy playing!
